OUCH!

I love this photo of my dad taken at the weekend. Charlotte crept up behind him and hit him on the head with an inflatable hammer (thanks Maree!) As you can see he wasn't expecting it - but I love Anna's anticipation (shown in the previous photo) and her reaction to his being hit. Classic baby humour.

JASON LEE FLICKR PHOTOGRAPHER

Check out this photographer! Not only are his little girls cute as hell - his photos are so full of imagination. I guarantee a smile! I particularly like his coffee photo. Anyone who has ever lived with little kids will relate to it!

THIS IS MY GLASGOW

While looking through flickr groups today I found a link to a Glasgow photo project and competition. Needless to say, I'll be on there as soon as the kids go to bed tonight to upload all my old favourites and I might even take some new ones, who knows since it runs for another week or more!

SUNFLOWERS

I love sunflowers. I was out for a walk one day last summer in Southern France when a huge thunder storm hit - while everyone else ran for cover I decided the best thing to do was to run into a nearby field of sunflowers and try to photograph their beautiful yellow heads under a grey and menacing sky rather than the stereotypical blue one. And of course now we use digital rather than film, there was nothing to stop me taking over 50 photos in the hope I would actually catch a fork of lightning above my beloved flowers. As it happens I only caught one, here off to the side - but it is real - there was no cloning involved here!

DON'T SAY THIS ISN'T CUTE!

Flicking through the BBC's in pictures section as always I came across this collection of baby panda shots. Now you have to admit these are heart-warming, no? It isn't often you see this many baby pandas together, is it?

BACK TO THE BLOG

a bath together
Originally uploaded by phyl1.
Haven't blogged for a few days - it's been a busy few. (And the bloody laptop socket has come loose AGAIN)
First I did some DIY - I tiled a wall in the kitchen and am impressed by how straight I managed to make it! (Photos to follow once it is actually finished and grouted).
Then I had a birthday - that's me 39 - how can that be possible when I still only feel 23???? I think I'll cancel next year's for sure - I can almost deal with 39, but 40 is just unimaginable - I still remember when it was my dad's 40th! I think I'll try living by Amanda's philosophy. She explained to me on Sunday that she turns 35 in 3 weeks - she's going to stick there until she turns 50 when she then might start admitting to being 39! Cool :-)
On my birthday the wee guys had a bath together for the first time. There's a whole series of shots, if you want to see them. They had so much fun. Being born within week's of a cousin definitely seems to make for a closer than normal relationship. Let's hope they'll still be this close 20 years from now (though hopefully by then they'll have better ways of amusing themselves than chasing each other naked up and down the hall in Gordon's house!)

HUGGY BOYS

I just love this photo I took of my 2 boys on holiday. They just adore each other. I think 8 years is a nice age gap, somehow Marcel can be everything to our little Léon - sometimes he's a brother, sometimes a teacher, sometimes a toy, and sometimes he even seems like an extra parent or uncle, he's so responsible. I guess Lotsie loves him too though, just yesterday she asked if we could have 'lots of Pudges' :-)

ALL THIS FOG

Southern England seems to be in meltdown all because of some fog - Heathrow has ground to a standstill and several hundred thousand people are facing Christmas asleep on the floor of terminal 4, apparently. But I was thinking how pretty fog can be from a photographer's perspective, many apologies to those stranded passengers who probably are struggling to see its beauty today. I found these pretty photos on the BBC today and they reminded me of this photo I took in Rouken Glen park a couple fo winters ago - I really like the tranquility of it.

BLOG PHOTOS (UPDATE)

Dad's photo's back on the front of his blog now and on his profile. He's now only missing from the comments boxes. Very curious...

BLOG PHOTOS

When Dad began blogging I set up a basic account for him to get him started. I stuck on a baby photo of him and it appeared on his blog page, on his profile and was attached to all comments he made on others' blogs. Today, now he's getting more into blogging, he decided to change that photo for another of his personal favourites. He amended the photo URL in the profile, replacing the one I had chosen with the new one and saved. Now his photo appears on his profile, but no longer on his blog and no longer on his comments. Has he done something wrong? I can't find anything? Does anybody out there know?

OLD BRITISH SEASIDE PICTURES

I saw the BBC was looking for us to send in old British seaside pictures. I found some amazing ones in my family album from the 1920s. The clothing is quite sweet. Have a look here at my Granda and his Granny!
